Ladder Standards
EN 131 is the current European standard for ladders. Here in the UK, this standard is known as BS EN 131.
The present-day EN 131 standard was introduced in 2018. The previous standards BS 2037 and BS 1129 have now been withdrawn.
Ladders that comply with the EN 131 standard will be certified as either EN 131 Professional or EN 131 Non-Professional.

Suitable for trade / industrial use
EN 131 Non-Professional
Suitable for domestic use only

For example, if you’re a tradesperson who will be using the ladder for work, you need an EN 131 Professional ladder. If you’re just buying a ladder for odd jobs around the house, an EN 131 Non-Professional product will suffice.
