Roof Ladders

Roof ladders are very much what they say on the tin – ladders designed to make working on a roof safe and convenient. The defining feature of a roof ladder is its hooked top - the ridge hooks are specifically designed to be attached to the edge of a roof, giving you added safety and stability while you're working.

Do I have to use a roof ladder?

While those ridge hooks do give you a bit of extra safety during roof work, there's no rule that says you must use a roof ladder in any specific situation. As long as you follow the Health & Safety Executive's ladder safety guidelines, you should be able to work safely using a standard extension ladder.

Here's some more information on how to stay safe when using any type of ladder (including a roof ladder):

Frequently asked questions

A roof ladder is a long ladder with ridge hooks on one end. The hooks can be used to secure the ladder, making this type of ladder ideal for accessing roofs.

Your roof ladder will need to be long enough to reach the roof ridge (i.e. the highest point of your roof). Our aluminium roof ladders come in a variety of reach heights, ranging from 3 metres to more than 8 metres.

First, make sure your ladder is long enough for the hooks to reach the roof ridge (if you have a double section roof ladder, it may need to be extended). Next, lock the safety clips in place and wheel the ladder up, flipping it over once you reach the highest point. Make sure the ladder is securely fastened before you start work.
