Aluminium is one of the most abundant metals we have on the earth and it's also pretty great for making ladders! It's lightweight, durable and resistant to corrosion so it's perfect for making ladders that need to be transported from one place to another. Over time, you might notice patches on your aluminium ladder that are starting to appear a dull grey colour. This is aluminium oxide, and it's totally normal!

While aluminium oxide won't cause any harm to your ladder, you might want to remove it so your aluminium ladder looks shiny and new again. Many of our customers are tradespeople who need to bring their ladders in and out of people's homes every day. A clean, well looked after aluminium ladder will look more professional and last you a lifetime.

how are extension ladders measured

Are you thinking about buying an extension ladder for an upcoming job? Not really sure what length you need? Well, here in this blog, we'll explain how extension ladders are measured to help you find the perfect length for the task at hand.

Unlike single section ladders, extension ladders are be made up of two or more moveable sections, adding an additional layer of complexity to the calculation. Just because an extension ladder is listed as being 10 metres long, you shouldn't assume that you can reach 10 metres comfortably.

When measuring an extension ladder, it's important that you take the overlap in the middle of the ladder into consideration as well as the safe working height. These aren't the only things to consider, there are all kinds of variables that can make measuring an extension ladder a bit of a difficult task. But don't worry, we're here to help!

ladder safety harness

When you're working at height, it's always important that you take practical safety precautions to prevent accidental falls and injuries. We've already touched on some of our recommended ladder safety tips in a previous blog, but today, we want to talk about safety harnesses. The official guidelines for the use of harnesses on ladders are somewhat vague, so we've put together this quick blog to give you a better idea of if and when you should wear a harness on a ladder.

Safety should be your first priority when you're using a ladder of any shape, size or length. A fall from as little as 2 metres can have potentially fatal consequences, so it's important that you (or your employer) considers the risks before you undertake any work at height. Taking the time to put a few simple safety precautions in place can really make a difference if an accident occurs.

Where possible, ladders should be stored horizontally, somewhere cool and dry. You can store ladders standing up, but this is not advised due to the risk of them falling and being damaged.
